bottletops

I walked over a street which was covered in embeded bottle tops.  I thought there was something randomly beautiful to it, like art created by the Berliners.  I remembered this when seeing the gum observation on designobserver.com

Gaudi used broken bottles in his work (mosaics in the roof) at Park Guell in Barcelona, I’ll have some pics up on facebook soon!

we used to do this when I was a kid – there was a sweetshop in town and the pavement outside would go soft in the summer, so we’d buy a small bottle of pop, open it, and stamp the bottletop into the tarmac. There must have been 1000′s of bottlecaps embedded in the pavement…

You do realise the ‘gum stuff’ on the pavements in designobserver.com is actually mold don’t you?

Not gum.

Don’t you?

pretty sure it’s gum but would love to hear your ‘mold’ theory…
